Beautiful Do-It-Yourself Centerpieces

Creating beautiful centrepieces for a table is very simple to do, but it makes a huge difference to the atmosphere you create for your guests when they arrive. Flowers and candles are favourites in many centrepieces; combine the two to create pretty centrepieces that will add colour, light and scent to your table. For a long table, create one large centrepiece, and make smaller matching versions to place elsewhere on the table.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

Glass bowlsColoured glass pebblesWaterFloating candlesFlower heads

Instructions

1 Place a layer of glass pebbles (of a colour to match your flowers and candles) in the base of the glass bowls.

2 Fill the bowls about 3/4 full with water. Place the bowl exactly where you want it to be on the table. Trying to move it after adding flowers and candles will spoil the display.

3 Place flower heads gently on the top of the water so they float. For smaller centrepieces, use just one flower head and scatter a few petals around it. For larger displays, use as many flower heads as desired.

4 Lay floating candles on the top of the water between the flower heads. Do this gently, being careful not to get the wicks wet as you do so. Light the candles.
