Any do-it-yourself decorators who love the country, primitive look of a chicken-themed kitchen can create this decor in just about any type of kitchen. Whether you prefer a true farm feel in your chicken-themed kitchen that blends chickens, cows and other country animals together or wish to exclusively invite roosters to join your decor, there are several ways to create this style in your kitchen.

Paint

Choose paint colours for the kitchen in shades of light gold, pale yellow or warm cream. These colours serve as a nice backdrop for adding brightly coloured, chicken-themed items to the room.

Accent Colors

Select simple red-and-white checked curtains for your kitchen, especially if you are aiming for a farm-type, chicken-themed kitchen. If possible, use matching red-and-white checked table linens to coordinate with your kitchen curtains. Tan burlap is also a great fabric choice for kitchen curtains within a chicken-themed room as are valances and side panels that feature rooster appliques.

Wall Art

Hang plenty of chicken-themed art throughout your kitchen such as framed portraits of hens, rooster-themed clocks and painted wooden signs referring to chickens. Chicken-themed calendars are a great place to find brightly coloured images of hens and roosters that you can frame and then hang on your walls.

Chicken Wire

Use chicken wire somewhere in your kitchen, which really gives your space an authentic chicken house feel. Examples include facing kitchen cabinets with chicken wire, covering the outsides of pantry doors with chicken wire or placing a pie safe or hutch that features chicken wire in the room. Many country-themed stores and websites offer such items.

Rugs

Place a brightly coloured chicken-themed rug on your kitchen floor. This will start your chicken theme from the floors up and really add punch and pizazz to your theme.

Accessories

Scatter chicken-themed accessories throughout your kitchen to add touches of colour and continuity. For example, hang flour sacks or rooster-themed hand towels from your oven or kitchen island, place hen-themed canister sets, cookie jars and spoon rests on counters and use rooster-themed dishes to serve meals.
