XLink Kai is a software application released by Team-XLink that allows consoles that do not have the ability to play multiplayer games across the Internet to do so through a personal computer that runs Windows or Macintosh operating systems. The program is a tunnel that supports wireless and wired access links from the tunnel to the PC, and then forwards any movements and game state information to the XLink application, where it is then distributed to other players in your game. Your XLink Kai ping is important because consoles were designed for low-lag gameplay. You can lower this using a few techniques.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Instructions

1 Switch from wireless to wired connections. Wireless is susceptible to more packet loss and can increase your ping. Connect your XLink PC as well as your console directly to a router to minimise latency issues.

2 Stop all active downloads and file-sharing uploads. If your system's bandwidth is taxed, you will have less speed available. In severe situations this can make your ping extremely high and the game unplayable.

3 Play with other players who live near you, preferably on the same Internet service provider. The farther a packet of information has to travel, the higher your latency will be because your ping is the round-trip time it takes for your packet to be received and acknowledged.
