The HWREG1 Hawking Range Extender works with your existing wireless router to dramatically increase the strength and range of your wireless network. The HWREG1 collects the signal from your existing router and retransmits it at a higher rate to bypass obstacles or thick walls that dampen the signal. The device features a plug and play installation and can start boosting your wireless network in just a few steps.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Things you need

Ethernet cable

Instructions

1 Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into a port on the rear of your router. Connect the other side of the cable to the port on the rear of the HWREG1 range extender and connect the power supply to the extender.

2 Insert the included set-up CD for the range extender into your computer's disc drive and the "Setup Wizard" window will appear.

3 Click the "Setup Wizard" option in the list and select your router in the device list. Click "Next." Create a name for the range extender and a password in the text fields. Click "Next."

4 Click the option for "Automatically Assign IP Address" and click "Next." Click "Scan" to locate the wireless network to extend. Select your network in the list and click "Next." Enter in the security settings for your network, if you have any, in the window that appears. Click "Next."

5 Click "Set" to finish the set-up process. Unplug the range extender from the wall and disconnect the Ethernet cable.

6 Position the range extender in a location that is half the distance of the normal range for your network and plug it into a wall outlet. The WLAN Light will blink repeatedly and the PWR LED light will illuminate once the range extender starts working.
