Adjusting the headlights on your 1997 Chevrolet pickup is necessary when you purchase and install new headlights. Pickup trucks on 1997 model year Chevy pickups use two adjustment screws to adjust the headlight up and down and left and right. You need to make sure that your Chevy pickup's headlight assembly is properly adjusted to avoid blinding oncoming traffic and also to make sure that you can see the road in front of you. You'll need a special tool, available at most auto parts stores, called a Torx bit screwdriver. This type of screwdriver has a star-shaped point on it.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

Instructions

1 Park your 1997 Chevy pickup truck 25 feet away from a closed garage door. Make sure that the truck is facing the door.

2 Turn the headlights on.

3 Open the bonnet and locate the adjustment screws on the top and inside edge of both headlight housing assemblies.

4 Turn the headlight adjustment screws with a Torx bit screwdriver until the centre of the headlight beam on both headlights overlaps the other by about 50 per cent and the centre of the beam is positioned at the bottom of the garage door where the door meets the ground. From 25 feet away, this will give you the optimum adjustment for your Chevy's headlights.
