How to Apply Monster Value Mummy Makeup

Preparing for Halloween by transforming into another person or creature is a significant part of the holiday's fun for most revellers. Getting into costume and applying make-up is the critical part of the transformation, so it is necessary to concentrate on applying the make-up in as realistic fashion as possible. Depending on the nature of your mummy costume, you may not even have much facial area to cover with paint. If you will be wrapping gauze over your face for the costume, paint it first, so it looks more realistic, peeking out from under your mummy wrappings.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

Face paint (white, grey, beige)Paint applicator (facial sponges)Water and towels

Instructions

1 Wash your face, or that of your little mummy-to-be. At least wipe the face clean with a damp washcloth. Face paint adheres better to clean, oil-free skin.

2 Apply white face paint to the whole face by dabbing it on with a facial sponge. The paint looks more realistic if you dab, instead of wipe, the paint.

3 Apply grey paint under the eyes to make them appear sunken. Apply lightly at first, and add more if you want the colour to appear more intense.

4 Apply more grey and some beige paint anywhere else you want the face to appear sunken and saggy. A mummy's skin should appear dry, hard and saggy, a little like leather. Keep those textures in mind as you apply colour.

5 Apply wide-set parallel lines across the face to resemble bandages if you are not placing actual bandage material over your face. Shade the painted bandages accordingly, making areas darker wherever the "bandage" appears to bend or fold.

6 Paint over the lips, as well, keeping them pursed to look tightened and strained. Wrap the gauze over or around the face to finish the look.
