If you are considering making a rug by hand, but do not have very much time in order to complete your rug, it may benefit you to make a braided rug, which can be created in a very short amount of time. In order to successfully make a braided rug in one day, it is important to follow a few simple steps.

Things you need

Wool fabricScissorsNylon threadNeedleSafety pinsMeasuring tape

Instructions

1 Measure and cut strips of wool fabric that are 3-inches in width. The length can vary.

2 Sew the strips of fabric together, end to end.

3 Continue to sew the fabric strips together until you have a long strip that measures at least 6 feet long.

4 Repeat this process until you have three long strips that each measure 6 feet in length.

5 Hook a safety pin to one end of each strip.

6 Hold the safety pin between your knees, and braid the three strips together tightly.

7 Sew the open end of the braid together.

8 Curl the braid into a spiral, pinning it together with safety pins along the way. Continue to curl and pin the entire braid.

9 Thread a needle, and sew the braid together along the seams starting at the centre of the spiral and working your way to the outside.

10 Remove the safety pins.

11 Display your braided rug.
