You may find that cancelling your Dish Network is a little harder to do than it was to get it started. There are two good ways to cancel your account and one less than desirable way to cancel. You should start with the first step and continue with each step if you do not get the results you need until you have the account cancelled. You should be aware of your contract before cancelling your account to avoid hefty cancellation fees if there are any.

Skill level:Moderately Challenging

Things you need

Account number

Instructions

1 Call Dish Network at (888) 686-2388 to cancel your service. You will need to give your account number and answer questions about your person that only you will know before the operator will discuss your service with you. Note: If you signed a one-year contract for a lower monthly service rate, free equipment and installation, and cancel your service before the contract is up, you will be subject to pay the regular monthly service fee for prior months and may be charged for equipment such as the dish and installation costs.

2 Write a letter to Dish Network at the following e-mail address [email protected], explaining that you wish to cancel your service and return your equipment. Give them your account number, name and telephone number so they can call you for confirmation.

3 Stop paying your monthly bill and Dish Network will stop your service within the month. This should be the last resort only if the previous steps have not worked. You will be billed for the service you used and a late fee will apply.

4 Send Dish Network equipment back to them if you have not paid for it in full. The dish itself is not returned, but the receivers may need to be returned, but this depends on your contract. If you send the receivers to Dish Network, keep your receipt to show what day was the last day they were in your possession. You will need this if you are over billed.
