How to Clean a Pyrolytic Oven

A pyrolytic oven is a self-cleaning oven that uses high temperatures to burn off spills. The ovens come with safety features, including a door lock and heat-resistant coatings on the exterior surfaces. Cleaning a pyrolytic oven is less time-consuming than cleaning a traditional oven, and it does not require any special oven cleaners or chemicals. The oven does most of the cleaning for you.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

Damp cloth

Instructions

1 Remove any dishes you store in the oven. Lock the oven door. Most pyrolytic ovens come with a door lock that will not disengage until the oven has cooled completely.

2 Select the self-cleaning cycle on the digital control panel. The oven will heat up and burn any spilt food to an ashy residue.

3 Wait for the oven door to unlock. Open the oven door and make sure it has cooled fully. Once the oven is cool to the touch, wipe down its interior with a damp cloth to remove the ashy residue.
