Covering a wall with tissue paper gives a new textured look your home. You simply glue on the tissue paper, making sure to crumple it slightly before applying it to the wall. Then you can paint over the paper with a paint or glaze. The wrinkles of the tissue paper gives the wall a slightly rough texture, and the opacity of the paper adds new colour to the wall.

Instructions

Gather about 100 sheets of tissue paper for each wall you want to cover. You can use opaque white tissue paper or use coloured paper for a different effect.

Crumple up each sheet of tissue paper carefully to give each sheet a wrinkled texture. Open the sheets, and lay them out flat.

Apply wallpaper glue using a paint roller over a section of the wall. Make sure the glue is evenly distributed.

Press one sheet of tissue paper on to the glued wall, flattening it as much as possible. With a brush, iron out some of the wrinkles, but don’t worry about getting all of them.

Paint another layer of glue on top of one part of the tissue paper so you can overlap it with another piece of tissue paper. Press a second sheet of tissue paper on the new section of glue.

Continue overlapping tissue paper until you’ve glued tissue paper all over the wall. Tear off any excess overlapping paper that isn’t attached to the wall.

Cover as many walls with tissue paper as you wish using this technique.

Allow the wallpaper glue to dry.

Paint the walls with a coloured glaze or paint, depending on what you want the wall to look like. Apply a second coat to deepen the colour of the wall.
