Microsoft Server Certificates are special bits of Internet protocol that tell Internet Explorer which Internet sites are "trusted" sites, and allows IE to decrypt data used by those certificates. Occasionally, you may find the need to delete one or more of these certificates from your system--perhaps for bug-fixing purposes, or because you find a "trusted" site to be untrustworthy. This can be accomplished by entering into the "Certificates" menu in the "Internet Options" Internet Explorer window.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Instructions

1 Open "Internet Explorer."

2 Click the "Tools" menu followed by "Internet Options."

3 Click the "Content" tab, then click the "Certificates" button. This will bring up a new dialogue box on your screen containing all the server certificates currently on your computer.

4 Select the certificate you wish to remove, then click the "Remove" button. You will be prompted to confirm your decision to remove the certificate. Do so by pressing "Yes."

5 Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for each certificate you wish to remove.
