The WAP54G is a wireless access point made by Linksys. The WAP54G is compatible with 802.11 technology. It runs at a frequency range of up 2.4 GHz, and can transfer data at about 54 Mbps (Megabytes Per Second). Dismantling the WAP yourself can help troubleshoot major hardware issues with the device. While it is possible to do this yourself, doing so may void your manufacturer's warranty. Check with Linksys before performing this procedure.

Instructions

1 Disconnect the AC power cable from its socket on the back of the router. Unplug all networking cables from the device as well.

2 Place the router with the topside facing downward on a flat surface. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the four rubber feet from the bottom of the device. Loosen all screws revealed by the rubber feet.

3 Remove the plastic caps from each antenna on the back of the router. Unscrew each antenna from its individual connector until both antennas are completely removed.

4 Loosen the nuts on each antenna connector. Remove the nuts and washers from each antenna connector. Grasp the router's front blue panel. Pry the front panel from the router's casing with your fingers. Use a thin, flathead screwdriver if necessary. Removing the front panel reveals the LED lights and antenna assembly inside the router's casing.

5 Pry the router's back panel from the rest of the casing with your fingers. Grasp the metal bar linking the two antenna connectors together. Pull the entire antenna assembly out of the router's casing through the device's back side.
