How to Do the Crown of the Head With Sew-In Bangs

Sew-in hairstyles allow you to try out a new look without the commitment of a haircut. Extensions are getting more creative and are used for everything from highlights to trying out a bob haircut. Bangs can be sewn in using the same methods used for full extensions. Cornrow hair at the crown and sew wefted hair onto the cornrows for a fun new look.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Things you need

CombSmall clipsWeft of hair for sew-inThreadCurved needleScissors

Instructions

1 Section off area of hair for fringe. Part hair in small horizontal rows, ear to ear, and cornrow each row.

2 Thread a needle, and tie the end of the thread to the cornrows using a slipknot. Slip knots are done by pulling the thread through the braid until about 1 inch remains, looping the thread around the cornrow, and threading it under a second time. Go through the loop to complete the knot. Repeat and pull taut.

3 Sew the ends of the cornrow braids to the base of the cornrows. The braid ends should be tucked between the parts of the hair and secured so the braids do not show under the fringe.

4 Sew the wefted extension hair on the cornrow base, row by row, starting at the front. Hide the weft on the top piece of hair, toward the crown of the head. To do this, sew the track while tucking the weft under the cornrow. The result should look like the weft is somewhat folded over.

5 Tie off the thread using two slip knots. Cut off the excess thread. Finish the look by trimming the bang hair as necessary. Position your own hair so the fringe look natural and blend in nicely.
