If you have been thinking about dyeing your hair red but didn't want anything that was permanent, look into dyeing your hair with Kool-Aid. The Kool-Aid can be applied to the hair and will temporarily dye your hair the colour you like. Red Kool-Aid will last in your hair for about two weeks as it is slowly washed from the hair follicles. Dyeing your hair with Kool-Aid is fun, non-permanent and easy to do.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Things you need

10 packets of unsweetened Kool-Aid in red (tropical punch and cherry flavours will work)Small bowlHair conditionerSpoonHair clipSmall paintbrushHair elastic/ponytail holderHair cap

Instructions

1 Pour 10 packets of Kool-Aid into a bowl.

2 Add 1 tbsp of conditioner to the bowl at a time. Mix it well with a spoon. When the Kool-Aid becomes a thick paste it is ready to be used.

3 Divide your hair in half, holding one half of your hair up with a hair clip.

4 Dip the paintbrush into the dye. Apply the "dye" to the lower section of your hair.

5 Saturate the hair section thoroughly with the dye.

6 Let down the top portion of your hair. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 on the top section.

7 Gather all of your hair into a bun at the top of your head.

8 Put on a hair cap and leave the colour in for 10 hours (yes, 10 hours). The hair cap can be purchased at any beauty supply store.

9 Wash your hair out and style as usual.

Tips and warnings

Unfortunately, this only works with light brown or blond hair. If your hair is a dark brown or black, you will need to bleach the hair with a hair bleach first, then use real hair dye.
