If the stem has a flower on it, you can attempt to fix the broken plant by installing a stint. A stint is a brace that keeps the split ends of the stem together so the stem can heal.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Things you need

Tape measureStem splintScissors

Instructions

1 Cut a stem splint to length. A stem splint is essentially a piece of clear plastic curled up into a tube. Cut the stem slightly longer than the break in the stem. If the stem is very thin, cut the splint slightly longer to help support the fragile stem.

2 Remove thorns that will get in the way of the splint by trimming them with a pair of sharp scissors.

3 Uncurl the splint, and wrap it around the stem with the stint centred over the cut.
