How to Fix Problems With a Swiffer WetJet

The Swiffer WetJet is intended to be an all-in-one cleaning system for most hard floor surfaces such as hardwood, tile, ceramic and linoleum. It comes with exchangeable scrubbing pads and a customised cleaning solution that together will break up and dissolve messes. Using it is fairly straightforward. After assembling the Swiffer WetJet, you simply attach a new pad to the bottom each time you want to use it, spray any dirty areas with the solution by pressing the button and mop up the mess. However, as simple as the Swiffer WetJet is to use, you may still come across problems that may need to be addressed.

Skill level:Easy

Instructions

1 Sweep up large particles before using the mop and use extra solution to thoroughly wet the area if you are experiencing streaking or hazing on your floors.

2 Check to make sure the cleaning solution bottle is inserted properly and that it still has solution available if you are experiencing problems with your mop not spraying. Also, make sure the bottle is inserted properly to avoid leaking fluids. The bottle should be fully inserted into the designated hookup and feel firmly secured.

3 Check to make sure the batteries are properly inserted, or replace them with new ones if your motor on the sprayer is not running.

4 Check to make sure the pad is properly attached if you are having problems with the pad falling off. The side of the pad that says "Swiffer" should be the side attached to the mop.

5 Spray extra solution on areas with tough spots and let the solution set in for a few minutes before mopping it up if you are having trouble with tough stains or spots not being removed from your floor. You may also want to try replacing your scrubbing strip if it is worn or extremely dirty, in order to create extra friction.

6 Call Swiffer and speak to one of their customer service agents if you are unable to resolve your problem on your own. Swiffer can be reached at 800-742-9220. Swiffer does not advocate disassembling the device because doing so can severely damage the connections and permanently damage or destroy the device. It will also void any warranty.
