If you've found ugly yellow stains in the armpits of your shirts, there's no need to panic. These unsightly stains come from a mixture of sweat, body oils and deodorant. Before you send those shirts off to an expensive dry cleaner, try removing the stains yourself. They can be removed using a homemade organic stain remover made from a combination of common household items; this organic stain remover will also help remove odours.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

1/2 c. Baking sodaSmall bowlCold waterSpoonClean toothbrushClear washing powder1/2 c. White vinegar

Instructions

1 Pour a 1/2 cup of baking soda into a small bowl.

2 Add just enough cold water to the baking soda to form a paste.

3 Use a spoon to thoroughly mix the ingredients.

4 Dip a clean toothbrush into the paste mixture.

5 Use the toothbrush to rub the paste into the stained area.

6 Leave the paste to sit on the stain for 25 to 30 minutes.

7 Launder the stained item as usual. Be sure to use clear liquid washing powder. Add a 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle.

Tips and warnings

For extra cleaning power, add 1 cup of baking soda to the wash cycle while laundering the stained item.

Don't put the stained item in a clothes dryer until the stains have been removed. The heat from the dryer will set the stain into the fabric.
