How to Install Michelin Wiper Blades

Michelin-brand wiper blades are manufactured by the Pylon company, who also makes TrueFit- and Pylon-brand wiper blades. Michelin blades are widely available at affordable prices; you'll find them at discount retailers like Wal-Mart as well as at repair shops and parts stores wholly devoted to cars. Like the blades of competitors Rain-X and Trico, Michelin-brand blades are easy to install. You definitely do not need a mechanic to do it for you.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

Flat-tip screwdriver (For small pin wipers only)

Instructions

1 Turn on your vehicle's electrical system and activate your wipers for three seconds. Then turn the wipers off. The wipers should stop in the middle of your windshield, thereby making them easy to access.

2 Lift the driver-side wiper and locate the safety clasp.

3 Undo the clasp's connection with the wiper arm. This will unsecure the wiper.

4 Remove the old wiper unit by pulling it off the arm. If your vehicle features a wiper with a small pin, see the Tips section below.

5 Align the new Michelin wiper blade's centre connection with the end of the wiper arm. Firmly, pull it on. If your wiper arm features a hook, you will pull it into the hook until you hear the safety clasp "click."

6 Rest the newly installed Michelin blade against the windshield and repeat the installation process on the navigator's side of the vehicle.

Tips and warnings

Small-pin wiper arms connect to the side of the Michelin wiper, where there is a hole. To remove the wiper from a small-pin wiper arm, you need to lever the wiper off the arm with a flat-tip screwdriver. To install a new blade, you slide the pin into the hole on the side of the Michelin wiper's centre connection.
