How to Make a Certificate for Sports

Keep morale high by acknowledging the hard work of your sports team this year. Create certificates and award them at a banquet or in a small ceremony. Avoid generic certificates as they do not convey the same sentiment as a customised certificate. Establish categories specific to the talent and focus of the individuals on the team using your word processor on your computer. You can find certificate paper at most office stores, with or without borders and signature lines, to help you create professional-looking keepsake certificates.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

Speciality paperColour printer

Instructions

1 Open your word processor software. Click "File" then "Page Setup" to change the orientation of your document from Portrait to Landscape then click "OK." Landscape is the standard orientation of professional certificates (like diplomas).

2 Click "Format" in the main menu bar and select "Borders and Shading." In some word processors, the Borders and Shading menu is listed under the "Page Layout" menu. If you are using certificate paper which includes a border, skip to Step 4.

3 Select a border for your certificate. You may choose from lines, clip art or photos. Choose a design that matches the mascot or colours of your sports team from the corresponding drop-down menus then click "OK."

4 Click "Insert" from the main menu bar. Choose "Text Box" and draw a text box at the top centre of your document. Use this text box to add a title to your certificate such as "Most Valuable Player" or "Top Scoring Point Guard." Enlarge the font of the title so that it is visible from at least 2 feet away.

5 Add the recipient's name in smaller text underneath the title in bold print. Then add your name or the name of the certifying organisation and that date. Have an official representative of your athletic organisation sign the bottom right corner of the certificate.

6 Print the certificate using colour ink on an inkjet or laser printer.

Tips and warnings

Use bold typeface for the title of your certificate and the name of the recipient.
