Skill level:Easy

Instructions

1 Open a Windows Explorer window. Click on “Folders” in the icon menu to get a panel showing the tree structure of your folders in the left panel of the window.

2 Find the folder you want to make writable by scrolling through the left panel of the window. You may need to open other folders to display their contents if your folder is not at the top level. Click the plus sign next to each folder to do this.

3 Click the right mouse button when the pointer is over the folder you were looking for. This will bring up the right-click menu. Click on “Properties” at the bottom of the menu. This will open the properties window for that folder.

4 Click in the “Read-only” check box in the “Attributes” section of the “Properties” window to clear it. Click the “Apply” button. Click the “OK” button to close the window and complete the process.

Tips and warnings

To make the folder accessible to other users on the computer or on your network drag it to the “Shared Documents” folder.
