How to Make an Account on Korean MapleStory

MapleStory is a 2D massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) and has eight different versions respective to various geographical locations (China, Europe, Global, Japan, South East Asia, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand). The Korean version is the original and generally receives new updates before the other versions. A Nexon ID is used to play MapleStory and all of Nexon's other games. To play Korean MapleStory, you must have a Korean Social Security number. If you do not have one, you cannot play. The Korean MapleStory website also requires the use of Internet Explorer.

Instructions

1 Go to the MapleStory website, http://maplestory.nexon.com/. Proceed to the screen with the login box.

2 Click on "Membership" (written in Korean as hui won ga IP). A pop-up window will appear.

3 Check the box to agree to the MapleStory terms of usage. The bottom question asks if you already have a Nexon ID. If you have one, click the button on the left (issumnida) and enter your ID and password. Click on the button below for the next step. Complete the sign-up process.

4 If you do not have a Nexon ID, you must create one by clicking the button on the right (opsumnida) to proceed. A new window will open and you must click on the corresponding button for whether or not you are at least 14 years old. The button on the right is for 14 and above. Complete the requested steps to get your Nexon ID. You will have to enter your name and Korean Social Security number and verify your e-mail.

5 Download MapleStory to play.

Tips and warnings

It is helpful to know Korean, as the Korean MapleStory website and game are in Korean.

Play another version if you don't have a Korean Social Security number.

Do not try to fabricate a Social Security number. You will be engaging in identity theft.
