How to Make Molded Wedding Mints

Making moulded wedding mints is an easy way to add a personal touch to your wedding festivities. You can make moulded wedding mints in traditional pink and green, or you can create mints to match your wedding colours. Molds for wedding mints are available at craft stores, but you can also purchase them online. Either way, mint moulds come in a variety of wedding-based themes; you might also consider mint moulds with Valentine's Day themes, to broaden your selection.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

85.1gr. cream cheeseFew drops food colouring1/4 tsp peppermint flavouring2 1/2 cups icing sugarGranulated sugar for dippingMixing bowlCandy mouldsWaxed paper

Instructions

1 Place one 85.1gr package of cream cheese in a mixing bowl. Let it stand at room temperature for 15 minutes, or stir it until it softens.

2 Add 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint flavouring and a few drops of the food colouring of your choice. Red and green food colouring are popular choices. A few drops of red food colouring will make the mints a pretty pink colour; a few drops of green food colouring will give the mints a lovely pastel mint colour. Mix the flavouring, food colouring and cream cheese together well; add 2 1/2 cups of icing sugar and mix until smooth.

3 Shape the mixture into marble-sized balls. Dip one side of each ball in a small amount of granulated sugar. Press each ball into a mould, sugar-side down. Remove the mints from the moulds immediately and transfer them onto a piece of waxed paper. Once the mints are firm, transfer them onto a cake rack and let them dry for three to four hours. If you store them in an airtight container they will keep for up to two weeks.

Tips and warnings

A recipe calling for a 85.1gr package of cream cheese and 2 1/2 cups of icing sugar yields 50-60 mints.
