Place cards are a great way to make sure your guests are seated where you want them. This is especially important if you have a few friends or family members that do not get along. Instead of making traditional place cards, you can make seating cards that are in the shape of a chair. Consider setting up a sign saying, "Take Your Seat" on the table where you'll display your chair place cards for a little play on words. Chair place cards don't take long to make and only require a few supplies.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Things you need

8 1/2 by 11 inch card stock sheetsScissorsRulerTapeCalligraphy pen

Instructions

1 Cut three 2 1/4 by 11 inch strips from each piece of card stock. Stop when you have one strip for each guest. For example, if you have 12 guests you will need four sheets of card stock.

2 Lay your card stock strips vertically in front of you. Use a ruler to make a crease at the 4 1/4-inch mark on one of the strips. Then make a crease every 2 1/8 inches after that. You will have a total of 4 creases.

3 Fold over the strip at the top crease to form an "L" shape. Notice that one part of the fold is shorter. This is the back of your chair. Set your "L"-shaped chair in front of you so that the longer part is horizontal and the shorter part is vertical.

4 Fold the longer section downward at the next crease so that your first and third creases are touching each other. This will form the back of the chair and seat.

5 Fold the final crease down in front of the seat to finish off the look of a chair. You will need to tape the back of the chair together so the place card chair doesn't unfold.

6 Use your calligraphy pen to place a number on the seat of the chair, and the guest's name on the back of the chair.

Tips and warnings

White card stock shows the calligraphy best, but you can use any colour card stock to make the chair place cards.

You may need to trim the bottom edges of the chair a bit if they are uneven.
