How to Make Your Own Tie Tack

A man is walking down the street, feeling extra snazzy in his new stylish tie, when a big gust of wind blows that tie up in his face. He can't see a thing, trips over his own feet, drops his briefcase and can't get up because he is too embarrassed to move. Keep this from happening to yourself or a male loved one by tapping into your creative side to make a homemade tie tack. You can make the tie tack to suit any personality, hobby or interest simply by picking the right button.

Things you need

Shank buttonButton shank removerClear-drying epoxyTie tack backing

Instructions

1 Remove the shank from the back of your shank button using the button shank remover tool. Clip the two sides of the shank off with the tool to create a flat back to the button.

2 Place a dot of clear-drying epoxy on the back of the button where the shank used to be. Let the epoxy sit for two minutes.

3 Remove the tack part from the tie tack backing.

4 Press the flat head of the tie tack's tack into the epoxy after it has set for two minutes. Let the epoxy cure for 48 hours before wearing the tie tack.

Tips and warnings

All the materials you need to make your own tie tack, including the tie tack backing, are sold in craft stores.
