How to measure one teaspoon on a baby medicine dropper

Many parents become confused as they attempt to use a baby medicine dropper because often these droppers have different dosage numbers stamped on the side of the dropper. While medicine dosages are often measured in teaspoons, a medicine dropper may also have millilitre calibrations or cubic centimetre (cc) calibrations, requiring a conversion for accurate dosage. Give your child the correct amount of medicine by learning how to measure 1 tsp on a baby medicine dropper.

Skill level:Easy

Instructions

1 Learn and write down for quick reference the correct conversions for teaspoons. For example, for teaspoons and millilitres, 1 tsp equals 5ml. The correct conversion between teaspoons and cubic centimetres is 1 tsp equals 5cc. Furthermore, 1cc equals 1ml.

2 Measure 1 tsp of medicine in a baby medicine dropper calibrated to millilitres by filling the dropper to the 5ml mark. Measure 1 tsp of medicine in a baby medicine dropper calibrated to cubic centimetres by filling the dropper to the 5cc mark. Measure medicine in a baby medicine dropper calibrated to teaspoons by filling the dropper to the 1 tsp mark.

3 Ensure the medicine exactly reaches the proper line--not slightly above nor slightly below the line--to measure the correct dose.
