In World War II the Carcano rifle was a sniper gun for Italian soldiers. The rifle has a split receiver bridge that requires a side-mount scope. Japanese soldiers during World War II also used the Carcano rifle because the rifle was lighter and an inch shorter than the Mauser. The Carcano uses a stripper clip akin to the Beretta clip.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

Pin punchScrewdriver setScope with included hardware

Instructions

1 Pull the trigger pins out of the rifle. Find the trigger housing and insert a pin punch to remove the pins from the trigger plate.

2 Align the holes on the scope mount to the holes for the trigger plate. When sliding the scope mount onto the rifle, take your time and line up the holes properly.

3 Insert the screws that came with the scope into the trigger plate holes on the Carcano. Tighten the screws with a screwdriver.

Tips and warnings

The side mount is only as secure as the fit of the screws and holes of the trigger plate. With worn holes use a bigger screw to tightly secure the scope onto the rifle.

Always make sure the safety lock is on before assembling or dissembling rifle accessories. Accidents can occur.
