FTA satellites are "free-to-air" satellites orbiting the Earth and broadcasting free content to homes all over the world. Receiving high definition content from an FTA satellite requires you to install a satellite dish on the outside of your house and a FTA satellite receiver box to be connected to your TV.

Skill level:Easy

Instructions

1 Take a look at the free-to-air satellite channel listing at Sadoun.com. Search by continent for channels you can receive from the free-to-air satellites nearest you. Once you've found a channel you would like to view, simply tune your satellite receiver box to that station and enjoy the free HDTV programming.

2 Look at FTAList. In addition to seeing channels currently being broadcast on specific frequencies, FTAList will also let you know which channels are changing programming in the future. This happens occasionally due to the orbit of certain satellites and their positioning around the Earth.

3 Browse GOsatellite.com, which features a list of channels organised by frequency. You can also click on the network name in the listing to view a summary of that station and its programming. Simply tune your FTA satellite receiver box to the desired frequency and enjoy the programming.
