There a few reasons to remove a Ford F-150's wiper arm. If the arm is bent and damaged, then it will not be effective. The wiper blade will not move properly across the F-150's windshield. Also, you will need to remove the wiper arms if you need to work on the F-150's wiper motor or any of the elements beneath the cowl. You will not need to remove the wiper blade frames, if you are only removing the arms for maintenance purposes.

Skill level:Easy

Things you need

Flat head screwdriverSocket setSocket wrench

Instructions

1 Remove the cover at the base of the F-150's driver side wiper arm. It is easily pried off with a flat head screw driver.

2 Remove the nut at the base of the wiper arm with socket wrench.

3 Bend the wiper arm upwards at its hinge. Grab the base of the arm with your free hand and pull upwards. If the F-150's arm resists, try steadily rocking it back and forth before pulling up.

4 Set the wiper arm aside. Repeat the above steps on the F-150's passenger side wiper arm.

Tips and warnings

If you are replacing the arms and wish to keep your current set of wiper blades, remove the blade frames from the arms, first.
