A Sony Magnescale is designed for use in rolling mills, where it measures the temperature, weight and size of steel. You may come across some problems while suing a Magnescale. These include the Magnescale not turning on and seeing an error message on the Magnescale's displays. Depending on the problem you come across, there are a few ways to solve the issue.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Instructions

Magnescale Does Not Turn On

1 Check the main power cord. It should be securely plugged in to an electrical socket. If it is loose or not plugged in, securely plug it in.

2 Set the main power switch on the front panel to "Off." Wait for two minutes, then set the switch back to "On."

3 Unplug the main power cord from its current socket and try plugging it in to another socket. A bad socket can provide inadequate power (or no power at all) for the Magnescale.

"Sony" Appears on Displays

1 Set the main power switch to "Off," then wait for at least three seconds. After three seconds have passed, set the main power switch back to "On."

2 Press the "Reset" button for the X axis if "Sony" appears on the X axis display. If it appears on the Y axis display, press "Reset" for the Y axis. Do the same if it appears on the Z axis display. If it appears on all three displays, press all three "Reset" buttons. Note that the LH52 only has an X axis and a Z axis.

3 Check the power cable. If it is loose or unplugged, securely plug it back in.

"Error" Appears on Displays

1 Set the power switch to "Off," wait three seconds, then set it back to "On."

2 Check which axis display (X, Y or Z) is showing the "Error" message and press the "Reset" button for the appropriate axis. If all are showing "Error," press "Reset" for all of them. Note that the LH52 only has an X axis and a Z axis.

3 Move the Magnescale away from anything that may be causing loud noises or vibrations. If you cannot move the Magnescale, try moving whatever is causing the noise or vibrations away from the Magnescale.

"Erroneous Counting" Appears on Displays

1 Switch the Magnescale off for three seconds, then switch it back on.

2 Check the scale signal connector. If it is loose or disconnected, securely reconnect it.

3 Try plugging the Magnescale in to a different electrical socket. If the current one is providing insufficient power, the "Erroneous Counting" message may appear.

Tips and warnings

Pressing "Reset" restores the value displayed to what it showed before the Magnescale was turned off.
