Renault manufacturers the Clio for distribution to the United Kingdom market. The Clio comes in four different models: Clio, Clio Renaultsport, Clio Gordini, and Clio Sport Tourer. Instructions

1 Check the brake fluid level under the hood of your Clio in the master-cylinder reservoir. Siphon approximately half of the brake fluid from the reservoir.

2 Use a ratchet and socket to loosen the lug nuts on the wheels. Do not take the lug nuts off completely.

3 Raise the Clio with a floor jack. Support the Clio safely with jack stands.

4 Take the lug nuts of the wheels completely. Slide off the wheels and tires from the Clio. Place the wheels, tires and lug nut in a secure location.

5 Position an 8-inch C-clamp on the brake caliper. Tighten the clamp to sit the caliper pistons in the bores. Take off the clamp.

6 Take the two brake caliper slide pin bolts off the caliper with a ratchet and socket. Lift the brake caliper from the brake anchor plate.

7 Place the brake caliper on the frame and secure with mechanic wire. Do not let the caliper suspend from the brake hose.

8 Dislodge the brake pads and anti-rattle clips from the brake anchor plate. Remove the shims from the pad to reuse. Note the exact order the old brake pads, anti-rattle clips and shims sat in the vehicle.

9 Install the shims, anti-rattle clips and the new brake pads to the anchor plate.

10 Place the caliper back into the position above the brake assembly. Tighten the slide pin bolts to 24 foot-pounds.

11 Replace the wheel and tire. Tighten the lug nut with your fingers.

12 Lower the Clio back to a levelled ground. Tighten the lug nut to 80 to 100 foot-pounds with a torque wrench.

13 Apply pressure to the brake pedal until it feels firm. The pedal may hit the floor the first time, but continue to apply pressure to the pedal until it is set in place. Place new brake fluid back in the master-cylinder tank.

14 Start the Clio and apply pressure to the brake pedal again to adjust the brake caliper pistons. Only operate the vehicle when the brake feel firm.

1 Repeat steps one through eight from the front brake pads.

2 Use an old brake pad or an 8-inch C-clamp to bottom the brake caliper piston in the brake caliper bore.

3 Place the inboard brake pad inside the brake caliper. Push the retainer spring completely in the brake caliper piston.

4 Place the end of the outboard brake shoe and lining on the brake caliper. Pivot the it downward until the locating lugs and retainer spring are in place.

5 Place new shoe slippers on the back wheel disc brake adaptor.

6 Position the caliper in place over the brake assembly.

7 Replace the wheels, tires and lug nuts on the Clio. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Press the brake pedal numerous times until it feels firm. Refill the master-cylinder tank with brake fluid. Test-drive the Clio to check that the brakes work.
