How to Troubleshoot a Hitachi UltraVision TV

The Hitachi UltraVision series is Hitachi's most high-end series of HDTVs. The UltraVision series provides the highest possible resolution and frame rates that current technology can handle. If you are an owner of a Hitachi UltraVision HDTV, you likely want to ensure that the TV is fully functional. Therefore, if you are experiencing problems with your Hitachi UltraVision, you should follow a few troubleshooting steps before asking for professional help.

Skill level:Moderately Easy

Instructions

1 Make sure that the power cord is properly inserted into a power outlet if your TV is not turning on. If the problem persists, test the outlet to determine whether the problem resides with the outlet. Plug a different electronic device into the outlet and see if it powers on.

2 Make sure that all cables from video sources are securely inserted into your TV if your Hitachi powers on but no video is displayed. For example, you likely will have a satellite or cable receiver and DVD player connected to your Hitachi. Make sure the video cables from those video sources are secure.

3 Check to make sure the correct video source is selected if you are experiencing no picture and no sound. To change the video source, press the "Input" button on your remote control until it matches the source you are trying to view. For example, if your satellite or cable receiver is plugged into "HDMI 1," press "Input" until "HDMI 1" appears on the screen.

4 Check the brightness settings on the TV if your TV is producing sound but no picture. To do this, press "Menu" on the remote control and use the right-arrow button to select "Video" and then "Picture Mode." From the "Picture Mode" menu, select "Brightness" and increase the brightness level if it is too low.

5 Make sure that the volume is not muted if you are receiving picture but no sound. Simply press the volume "Up" button on the remote to increase the volume.

6 Ensure that the "Sleep Timer" is not enabled if the TV is turning off by itself. Press the "Sleep" button on the remote. Press the right arrow on the remote until the sleep timer displays "Off."

7 Power cycle your Hitachi UltraVision if the previous steps were unsuccessful. Turn the television off and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait a few seconds and plug the power cord back in. Turn your TV back on.
