Mini Cooper Bluetooth Compatible Phones

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that allows you to connect your Bluetooth enabled portable devices without the use of cables. The Mini Cooper, which is manufactured by BMW, uses this technology, which allows you to connect your cell phone MP3 player or other mobile devices to the car. This allows you to use integrated equipment in the steering wheel to more easily manage your phone calls while you are driving.

Apple iPhone 3G (16GB and 32GB)

The Apple iPhone 3G is compatible with the Mini Cooper Bluetooth system, although there are some limitations. For example, when accepting incoming calls, you still need to click on the audio source button on the iPhone screen to transfer the call to the car. In addition, the Bluetooth protocols do not completely support call waiting. An incoming call during an active call may be accepted by the system but will be lost after 40 seconds, so it is recommended that call waiting be disabled while inside the car. To pair the devices turn Bluetooth pairing on in your Mini Cooper, go to the home screen on your iPod and select "Settings," then "General," and select "Bluetooth." Your phone will display a list of Bluetooth devices. Find your Mini Cooper and select it. Type in the passkey on the iPhone (get this from your car manual) and touch "Connect."

HTC Touch Pro2

The HTC Touch Pro2 is officially listed by BMW to support its Bluetooth system, although there are still some limitations on the system usage. For example call waiting is not supported so it is recommended that you disable the feature while inside the car. Transferring the sound from the phone to the car speakers is not automatic when the phone is attached to the car. To manually transfer the audio to the car, press the "Menu" button and then "Turn Hands Free On." Pair the HTC Pro and the Mini Cooper by setting the vehicle in pairing mode. Turn the Bluetooth on at the handset by going to the "Home screen"; then press "Start," "Settings," "Connections," "Bluetooth" and "Turn on Bluetooth." Search for Bluetooth devices by going to the "Home screen"; then press "Start," "Settings" and "Add new device." Select your Mini Cooper and type in the pass key (see the car manual for the code).

Samsung M800 Instinct

The Samsung M800 is in the official list of phones tested to be compatible with the BMW Mini Cooper. However, there are limitations in the system that were discovered during the testing of the phone. For example call waiting is not completely supported, and there is limited support for call transfers. To pair the car and the phone set the car to "Pairing mode," and turn the phone's Bluetooth to "On." Search for Bluetooth devices from your phone by going to the home screen and choose "Main Settings" and "Bluetooth Trusted Device." Your phone will display a list of Bluetooth device(s) that it discovers in range and that are available to be paired. Find your Mini Cooper and press "Select." Type in a passkey on the handset first (see the car manual for the passkey) and press "OK." Note that when pairing your Samsung 800 you may get a "Pairing Failed" message. Just ignore this and wait for the process to complete.
