Socket wrenchClothSolventMultimeter

Instructions

1 Remove one glow plug at a time, using your socket wrench. To do this, pull the electrical connector wires off to gain access to the glow plugs and turn the plug counter-clockwise to remove it.

2 Use a cloth that has been doused in a degreasing solvent to clean off the threads of the glow plug to remove any dust or debris that may be impeding its working operation.

3 Attain a digital multimeter and turn the dial on the front to the "Ohms" setting in order to measure the resistance of the glow plug.

4 Touch the probes of the digital multimeter against the threads of the glow plug. A sign of a defective glow plug will be if you get a reading of open or infinity. This, depending on the model, will be indicated by "OL" or "1." However, you should check the user manual for your multimeter for the corresponding settings of your model.
